Plants and Gardening is at the core of Sage & Thistle's origin, ethos, and continuing growth. Owner Mikael has been a gardener as long as she can remember, learning from her mother who learned from hers and back and back, and Sage & Thistle's connection to growing food & herbs, sharing seeds, swapping plants, and sharing knowledge has only grown. Gardening connects us both to the earth and our plant kin, but also to one another.
We are so proud and honored to be able to offer one of our all-time favorite small-space gardening books, Easy Growing: Organic Herbs and Edible Flowers from Small Spaces by gardening legend Gayla Trail. This book inspired Sage & Thistle owner Mikael to create a flourishing container garden on a concrete stoop in the heart of Brooklyn, and traveled with her to the books origin place, Toronto to create two more gardens, including the Sage & Thistle garden where she grows many of the herbs & flowers used in our products - many of which were introduced to her from this very book!
We at Sage & Thistle believe that gardening should be for everyone, every budget, and every type of space, and that learning how to start (or try something new) should not be intimidating or feel out of reach. Easy Growing will help gardeners at every level - including folks who don't think they can garden! - feel confident about growing their own food & more, and realize that gardening "mistakes" are how we learn!
